The Ghost Cave, is not really a cave, but a vaulted canyon located on the north wall of the Aprada Tepuy, located around 60 Km. by the South of Auyan Tepuy (Where Angle?s Fall is located) in the middle of Canaima National Park. The cave form is emulated when viewing from the bottom of the vault. At one of the sides of the cave there is a huge waterfall with a height of more than 200 meters. The place is amazing!!!
Although this trip is called "The Ghost Cave", and began with the fundamental objective of arriving at this place, during the tour, we could see that our route had many more things to offer. The truth is that during this 100 km journey that started in the valley of Purpurken, and after crossing the Waipan Tepuy, finished in the valley of Uruyén, at the foot of Auyan Tepuy, we had the opportunity to enjoy eight different Falls of water, each with different characteristics and attractions.
To get there, we used the services of Akanan Tours and Adventures in Caracas. They support us with the logistics, the guide and the porters. Akanan provided us with the food and all the camp equipment, which was in very good shape. Also the guide, Antonio Hitcher, was excellent. He knows a lot about the area and the culture. The porters, that came from Purpurken, were very friendly and supportive. The logistics to get there is not easy, so it is important to count with professionals.
This is an amazing trip, however is not for everybody. You should be in good shape and have good trekking equipment. If you are a hiking or trekking lover, this place, should be in your list.
